Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
ParkRide™ is a free community cycling event held on the last Saturday of every month across South Africa, currently based in Mossel Bay. The event is sponsored by KK ebikes & cycles, with technology provided by Capable Technologies. References to "we", "us", or "our" in this policy refer to ParkRide™ South Africa as the operator of this event and website.
2. What personal information we collect
We collect personal information only when you voluntarily submit one of the following forms on our website:

We do not collect sensitive personal information (as defined in POPIA §1), payment card data, government ID numbers, or biometric data.
3. Why we collect it and how we use it
- To send you event details, start-time confirmations, and meet-up location information for the ride you RSVPd for.
- To send event updates, ride alerts, and newsletters — only if you ticked the marketing opt-in box when submitting your RSVP. This consent is optional and can be withdrawn at any time by contacting us.
- To contact Host applicants about the process of launching a ParkRide™ chapter in their area.
- To plan logistics (e.g. estimating rider numbers, route suitability).
- We do not use your information for unsolicited marketing, profiling, or automated decision-making.
4. Legal basis for processing
We process your personal information on the basis of your voluntary consent, given when you complete and submit a form on this site. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us (see Section 7).
5. Sharing and disclosure
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.
- We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
- We may share information with trusted volunteers or co-organisers of a specific ParkRide™ event solely for the purpose of coordinating that event. All such persons are bound to handle your data with the same care described in this policy.
- We will disclose information if required to do so by South African law or a court order.
6. Data retention
RSVP information is retained for up to 90 days after the relevant ride date, after which it is deleted. Host application information is retained for up to 12 months or until the application is resolved, whichever comes first. You may request earlier deletion at any time (see Section 7).

You have the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you.
- Request a copy of your personal information.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Request deletion ("erasure") of your information.
- Object to or restrict processing of your information.
- Withdraw consent at any time without affecting any prior processing.

8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. Our website is served over HTTPS. Access to collected form data is restricted to authorised event organisers only.
9. Cookies and tracking
This website does not use cookies, analytics trackers, or any third-party tracking scripts. No personal information is collected passively through your visit to this site.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of our forms after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
POPIA Compliance Notice
This notice is provided in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA) of South Africa, which came into full effect on 1 July 2021.

In terms of POPIA §55, the Information Officer of ParkRide™ South Africa is responsible for ensuring compliance with POPIA and handling data subject requests. Contact details are the same as above.
Conditions for lawful processing
We process personal information in accordance with POPIA's eight conditions:
- Accountability — ParkRide™ South Africa, as Responsible Party, ensures POPIA compliance.
- Processing limitation — We collect only the minimum information necessary for event coordination and, where you have voluntarily consented, event-related marketing communications.
- Purpose specification — Information is collected only for the specific purposes stated in Section 3 above, including event coordination and (with your explicit consent) marketing communications.
- Further processing limitation — We do not further process information in a manner incompatible with the original purpose.
- Information quality — We take reasonable steps to ensure information is accurate and complete.
- Openness — This notice fulfils our obligation to inform data subjects of processing activities.
- Security safeguards — We implement appropriate technical and organisational security measures.
- Data subject participation — Data subjects may access, correct, or delete their information upon request.
Special personal information
We do not process special personal information as defined in POPIA §26 (race, religion, health, sexual orientation, criminal history, etc.).
Cross-border transfers
We do not intentionally transfer personal information outside the Republic of South Africa. If any infrastructure used to process form submissions is hosted outside South Africa, we ensure adequate protections are in place as required by POPIA §72.
Right to lodge a complaint
If you believe we have not handled your personal information in accordance with POPIA, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa:
